More about Me

I was born in Rochester New York. I mainly grew up in Hilton New York. I started going to school at a Catholic School for kindergarten to eighth grade. That was not the best experience, but now that I look back on it I think that it was great that my parents sent me there.  I do not remember much about my days at Mother of Sorrows, MOS, (the Catholic School).  I had a rough time at points making friends, but this has seemed to make me stronger and to keep good friends with everyone that I meet.  In terms of learning, MOS was a great.  I would have to say that I am very happy that I learned grammar there because at Hilton they all weren't taught grammar until senior year in High School.  I remembered enough then to be able to not study it then.  Now however some people may argue that I don't follow the rules any longer.   Oh well.

After eighth grade I moved over to public school in ninth grade. This is where I got my first taste of theatre.  At Hilton High School I joined stage crew and stayed in it all four years that I was there. I started out by being an electrician.  Mostly I got to only do work during the show. During the show I would unplug and plug in instruments. Our school was very short on circuits. Also I got to change out some gel. A very early version of a color scroller.  Later on I was in charge on stage and was able to deal with scenery.  I helped build every show after that.  Also shortly after this I dealt with every show.  Well eventually I became the stage manager, whom was in charge of stage crew. This is how I decided what I wanted to do theatre throughout my life.  My High School life had a profound effect on the rest of my life.  Not just that I found my love for theatre, but also I found myself and mostly figured out who I was.  I learned important skills of dealing with people and how to make and keep friends.

I went on to Ithaca College as a Theatrical Production Arts major with a concentration in technology.   I was involved in many shows while at college.  My portfolios show most of them along with some other work that I have done.  Going in to college I thought that I was going to be a lighting designer, but the next four years had something completely different in store for me.  I was on track in the beginning for lighting and for carpentry.  I followed those two basic tracks, but it set me up stronger in carpentry.  I also discovered that I enjoyed carpentry better.  College helped me figure out that I enjoy and am good at being an assistant lighting designer and also being a good technical director.  So after finishing school with all this knowledge I accepted a job as the Master Carpenter at The Fulton Opera House in Lancaster Pennsylvania.
After two years as Master Carpenter, I was promoted to Assistant Technical Director.  I then left Lancaster and spent the summer of 2005 at Williamstown Theatre Festival as the Associate Technical Director.  While there I interviewed and accepted the position of Assistant Technical Director at Long Wharf Theatre.  While I at Long Wharf I learned a lot more about automation and operating with a staff crew and over hire crew.  In my second year I was offered the position of Technical Director.  i accepted the position and have been in it ever since.

I recently bought a house in West Haven.  There are pictures of the different houses I looked at.  All were in equal amount of disarray.  It is really a fixer upper.  The first morning there, New Years Day 2009, I had to rip out most of the kitchen cabinets.  Check out the pictures.
